The 5th edition of annual technology festival, Contrivance, was held at Sharda University, a school of engineering and technology. The two-day tech fest witnessed over 18000 participants in more than 35 events from 16-odd colleges and universities across India. ‘Contrivance’ is North India’s largest and well-known showcase. It’s a most innovative, creative and disruptive technologies.

At the Exhibition, students were showcased, more than 20 innovative projects, highlighting creative use and application of newer technologies. The fest was inaugurated by successful entrepreneur Ms Oshika Lumb, Dr Prabhu Mishra – President CEO & Founder of StemGenn Therapeutics.

Some of the technical projects done by the students who participated in the exhibition include hybrid vehicle, an RC plane for surveillance and high voltage shielding.

A hybrid vehicle runs on batteries as a primary source of power and solar energy as the secondary source. The vehicle can carry supplies weighing up to 20Kg and has been made of more than 80% scrap is the brainchild of Mechanical Department scholars Akshay Taneja & Shakeel Ahmed.

The RC plane for surveillance is fitted with a camera to transmit the video of the area over which it is flying. The technology used enables it to perform better than a quadcopter as it is more silent and has more flight time.

High voltage shielding is a complete set of clothes comprising a jacket, a pair of trousers along with high voltage generating shoes. The project was prepared by Atif Anwar & Ajay of the Computer Science Engineering Department.

“Contrivance’ was conceptualised to bring together students, industry leaders, faculty and researchers to create an eco-system of ideation, innovation and implementation. This does not only help to inculcate the spirit of competition and participation amongst students but also their exposure across genres like coding, gaming, tech quizzing, tech model creation and creation of live demos. The theme for this year’s tech fest was ‘Innovation & Creativity’ that encouraged the students to create projects and showcase ideas that are future-ready and have the scope for further developments.” said Dr Parma Nand, Dean, School of Engineering & Technology.
